FullProf Suite documentation

The FullProf Suite is a set of crystallographic tools for Rietveld, integrated intensities and profile matching refinements of neutron and X-ray diffraction data. The suite is currently undergoing a full renovation, both in its graphical components and in the code responsible for numerical calculations. The graphical interface has historically been based on the Winteracter library, written in Fortran and no longer supported. The new graphical interface is being developed in Python, using the PySide6 framework (a Python wrapper for Qt).

The main program of the suite, FullProf, is being rewritten from scratch. The main change will consist of replacing the .pcr file with a .cfl file based on key–value pairs, which is more readable than the traditional .pcr. The new FullProf will increase its versatility by allowing any type of diffraction measurement to be combined in structural refinement calculations.

This website aims to collect and organize much of the existing documentation about the programs that make up the FullProf suite, as well as to start documenting the improvements and new programs that will be introduced over time.

Given the amount of documentation already available, this is a task that will require considerable time to complete. We expect to have it completed by the end of 2026.
